Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company is launching our Fresh Ink Reading Series! Throughout the years 2009 and 2010, dozens of new playwrights have submitted their original scripts to Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company. Due to our small budget, and the long list of projects we’ve wanted to bring to Houston audiences, we haven’t been able to produce as many of these fabulous plays as we would like, but we have narrowed the scripts down to four new plays that fit the edginess of Mildred’s Umbrella’s unique aesthetic...

For the 15th consecutive year, the Alley Theatre is providing young playwrights the chance to improve and expand their writing skills with its summer program, Houston Young Playwrights Exchange (HYPE). Six plays by local teens have been selected to undergo development in a professional forum guided by the Alley's staff, with the program culminating in a two-day public showcase of their work as staged readings - Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13 on the Neuhaus Stage.
