Classical Theatre Company will return to the father of modern drama, Henrik Ibsen, for the first time since producing Ghosts in 2010. A Doll’s House was highly controversial when it was originally produced in 1879, as it brought to light the status that women held not only in Victorian Norway, but also the Victorian West as a whole. The plight of women in their struggle for equality continues to this very day, some 130 years after Nora raised the hackles of her Norwegian audiences with her enlightenment.

BLACKBIRD is the reunion of Ray and Una; 15 years after their passionate affair when he was 40 and she was 12. The two are both confronted with their past when Una arrives unannounced at Ray's office.

Guilt, rage, and raw emotions run high as they recollect the shattering consequences of their relationship.

Without any moral judgments, the play never shies away from the brutal truth of this abandoned and unconventional love.
