Theatre New West presents a staged reading of “The Guys.”
The performance will be a Memorial/Remembrance for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. It will also be a Benefit for the Houston Fire Protection Fund.

Of the original production the “New York Times” said: “The Guys” is a timeless drama about the surprising truths people can discover in ordinary lives, and the connections we make with others and ourselves in time of tragedy. For the 15th consecutive year, the Alley Theatre is providing young playwrights the chance to improve and expand their writing skills with its summer program, Houston Young Playwrights Exchange (HYPE). Six plays by local teens have been selected to undergo development in a professional forum guided by the Alley's staff, with the program culminating in a two-day public showcase of their work as staged readings - Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13 on the Neuhaus Stage. Aeon Theatrix, Houston's newest professional musical theatre company, invites you to an exclusive preview of their inaugural season. Join Aeon's artists and staff as they unveil their 2011-2012 season. Selections from each show will be performed live throughout the event, as they share with you their vision for the future of this exciting new company.

The event will be held on June 12th from 3:00-4:30 in the main gallery at Winter Street Studios (2101 Winter Street, 77007). Refreshments have been generously provided by Ruggles Green.

Two World Premieres, an Imaginative New Musical by a Tony Award-Winning Team, the Return of Chekhov and Horton Foote Anchor the Alley Theatre's 2011-2012 Season

rtistic Director Gregory Boyd announced that the Alley Theatre's 65th Season beginning in September 2011 will include two world premieres, Elizabeth Egloff's epic play Ether Dome and Theresa Rebeck's black comedy What We're Up Against, (the latter in a rolling world premiere that includes theatres in San Francisco and Chicago), and the Outer Critics Circle Award-winning rock musical The Toxic Avenger by Joe DiPietro and David Bryan, winners of last year's Best Musical Tony Award for Memphis.
